Two Weird Ladies

Troupe of the Day: Two Weird Ladies

Comments: Disabled

Today’s Troupe of the Day is a hilarious duo whose name speaks for itself: Two Weird Ladies! Mandy Sellers and Laura Salvas met at the Second City, where they would eventually graduate from the Conservatory together and then start their two-woman troupe.

These ladies have been going strong ever since, with their wacky, witty and, you guess it, weird comedy; and to many accolades. Not only were they Fresh Meat nominees in 2012,  but NOW Magazine’s Glenn Sumi listed them in his Top 10 Comedy Shows of 2012, and Torontoist included their 2012 Fringe show as one of their “Top Ten Things We Loved At Fringe.”

Perhaps their brand of sketch has been so successful because of their real life friendship translating in to tight, sharp sketch, but it probably also has a lot to do with their personal strengths. Sellers was a 2011 Canadian Comedy Award nominee for Best Female Improviser, and Salvas was a past finalist for her stand up in the Toronto Comedy Brawl.

Be sure to see what kind of eccentric sketch is produced from the sleep-deprived minds of Two Weird Ladies, March 6th at the Lower Ossington Theatre, and March 13th at Comedy Bar!
