Free Midnight Series
From Wednesday to Friday at Comedy Bar, TOsketchfest presents free midnight programming open to the public. We are showcasing some of Toronto’s most fun show formats and inviting TOsketchfest performers to join in the fun!
The show creators will be reaching out to performers in the coming weeks. If you are interested in performing in any of these shows, drop Julianne a line and she’ll connect you with the show creator.
- Wednesday November 9th – Show Game – Comedy Bar
It’s the return of Toronto’s only LIVE game show, SHOWGAME! It’s a leaner, meaner SHOWGAME for the late-night slot but with all the same action and comedy you loved from the original! And, of course, for this special show, we’re pulling out all the stops! Lovely co-host Dale Boyer will be there, as will your announcer Trevor Martin, and host Mike “Nug” Nahrgang keeps it all together. As always you have a chance to be a contestant and WIN BIG PRIZES! Just fill out the form and place it in the “bucket of destiny”, if your name is called, YOU are a contestant! If your name isn’t called YOU CAN STILL WIN PRIZES courtesy of our sponsors F.G. Bradley’s and The Silver Snail. With special guests from TOsketchfest troupes!
- Thursday November 10th – BeerProv – Comedy Bar
BeerProv is a short form improv show that stars a rotating cast of the best comedians in Toronto. The show has featured Second City Alumni, Canadian Comedy Award winners and some of the best up and coming improvisers in town. Created and hosted by Jim Robinson, BeerProv features TOsketchfest performers participating in classic improv games for the chance to be crowned BeerProv Champion, and the chance to drink from the coveted BeerProv Mug of Champions. Half improv show, half drinking competition, BeerProv is the ultimate comedic experience.
- Friday November 11th – Rap Battelz – Comedy Bar
Rap Battlez! is a hilarious, off-the-wall mix of rapping, comedy and spectacle; think 8-mile meets WWE, only it’s the funniest thing you’ve ever seen. Hosted by brothers Miguel and Freddie Rivas AKA Big Migga and Dext Vocab, the jokes keep coming in this fast-paced show as big characters throw down even bigger rhymes. The excitement is real, the stakes are high and the entertainment is undeniable. This show features some of Canada’s most talented sketch comedians squaring off against each other for rap battle supremacy! It’s late. It’s free. Ask about it.
Sketch Wars
Sketch Wars pits three troupes against each other doing hilarious, all new material based on topics given to them one week before the show. They will then battle each other through three rounds of intense competition, performing their brand new sketches for the first time in front of the Sketch Wars Judges. The Judges will critique each performance based on certain criteria and in the end, will award one troupe the title of Sketch Wars Champion. Who will bomb? Who will write gold? Only one-way to find out… COME TO THE SHOW!

Improv Sets at The Second City
The cast of The Second City’s Dreams Really Do Come True! (And Other Lies) has opened their nightly improv set for guest appearances by experienced improvisers performing at TOsketchfest.
To request an opportunity to perform, please email julianne@torontosketchfest.com with your preferred date and a description of your previous improv experience. We’ll work with the Second City people to create a schedule. Note that there are a very limited number of performance opportunities. We’ll do our best to spread the love, but not all who are interested will be able to play.

The Steam Whistle Sketch-u-Bator
A private party for TOsketchfest performers and volunteers! Steam Whistle provides the drinks, you provide the entertainment. Perform up to 5 minutes of whatever: try a new sketch, play a favourite that didn’t make it into your set, or sing “The Impossible Dream” while pornography plays in the background. (Yeah, that happened…) It’s up to you!
Find a TOsketchfest producer at Comedy Bar on Saturday night to put your name on the performer list starting at 11:30 pm. We’ll try to get through the whole list before we run out of beer!
