Troupe of the Day – Peter n’ Chris

Posted on: October 29th, 2011 by brie

Each day leading up to the 2011 Festival, the TOsketchfest Blog will feature one of our 40+ awesome comedy troupes.

Today’s troupe of the day is Peter n’ Chris

Making their way back to Toronto all the way from Vancouver, British Columbia, Peter Carlone & Chris Wilson are a comedy duo on their way to the top.  They formed in 2008 and are already being called “Canada’s answer to Flight of the Conchords.” (Even though their show involves no live music whatsoever…) They’ve been a huge hit at Fringe and Sketch festivals, delighting audiences all over the country as well as in the US with their sharp wit, their strong comedic chemistry and their unique sense of theatricality.

Peter n’ Chris met while attending the acting program at the University of Victoria and they also perform in the Vancouver sketch troupe The Furious Anger Fun Hour.  Both Peter and Chris are also involved with writing and performing other theatrical pieces in their native province of BC.

Fun Fact: People can never remember who is Peter and who is Chris. Can you tell the difference?

Check out their troupe profile to find out when they are playing, and to grab your tickets.

Troupe of the Day – Kerpatty!

Posted on: October 28th, 2011 by brie

Each day leading up to the 2011 Festival, the TOsketchfest Blog will feature one of our 40+ awesome comedy troupes.

Today’s troupe of the day is Kerpatty!

Hailing from Chicago, IL, Kerpatty! consists of the brain trust of Erin Pallesen, Pat Dwyer and director Jen Ellison, all of whom have known each other intimately (Erin & Pat lived together for a while) since meeting at The Second City.  Their style of comedy is an amalgamation of playful character-writing, structurally loose, natural, conversational and stupendously gut-busting!

This may be the guys’ first TOsketchfest, but Chicagoans have been delighted by the Kerpatty! style for some time.  They’ve performed at the Chicago Sketchfest every year since 2007 and have been headlining since 2009.  They’ve showcased Comedy Sportz Chicago, TBS Just for Laughs, Pub Theater, iO theater and many others.  When Kerpatty! aren’t making people laugh, they’re teaching others how to make people laugh.  Erin, Pat and Jen have extensive teaching experience, specializing in improvisation, scene-writing and general hilarity.

Fun fact: Their TOsketchfest performance will mark Kerpatty’s first show outside of the US. Welcome to Canada guys!

Check out their troupe profile to find out when they are playing, and to grab your tickets.

Troupe of the Day – Touch My Stereotype

Posted on: October 27th, 2011 by brie 1 Comment

Each day leading up to the 2011 Festival, the TOsketchfest Blog will feature one of our 40+ awesome comedy troupes.

Today’s troupe of the day is Touch My Stereotype

It is a commonly held belief that Touch my Stereotype, the self-proclaimed “Little Rascals of Comedy” will make you giggle.  Composed of Chantale Renee, Mike Tanchuk, Dan Ramos, Anna Sudac, Ryan Galloway, Madison Walsh, Sonia D’Amico & Chelsea Larken, TMS produces sense-candy for the short-attention spanned.

This posse full of funny folk is making its first appearance to TOsketchfest, and we are happy as clams to welcome them.  Just this past year they’ve written and performed four TMS revues. They have been featured on shows such as Haha For Haiti, Hard Times at the Hard Luck, Naked Fridays, The Scene and have competed in Sketch Com-Ageddon.  They have also performed their “triple threat antics” up in the grills of New York and Montreal.

Go ahead and Touch Your Typing device, (ie your keyboard,) and head on over to their troupe profile to find out when they are playing, and to grab your tickets.
