Festival Awards
The Toronto Sketch Comedy Festival has three excellent awards that you are eligible for. Here’s the scoop:

Second City Best of the Fest Award – A jury from The Second City chooses their favourite act of the Festival!
Prize: Credit for workshops at The Second City Training Centre (Toronto), and a headlining slot in the “Best of the Fest” show November 23rd 2007 at The Second City.

NOW Magazine Audience Choice Award – Based on audience voting, the troupe with the highest per-capita number of votes wins! Here’s how it works:
- Audience members receive a ballot when they purchase their ticket. This gives them the opportunity to vote for one of the troupes on that bill.
- As they exit the theatre, they can vote for as many or as few troupes as they’d like from that show.
- The troupe with the highest per-capita number of votes wins the NOW Magazine Audience Choice Award.
Prize: $1000 advertising package with NOW Magazine, plus a slot in the “Best of the Fest” show, November 23rd 2007 at The Second City.

Steam Whistle Brewing Arbitrary Award of Merit – Formerly the Producer’s Pick, this award is chosen by the Festival producing team and is awarded to the troupe that best embodies the spirit of the Festival. They are dedicated to improving their game through professional development, they are great networkers, we had a great time getting to know them… and most of all, they made us laugh!
Prize: $250 cash prize and some excellent troupe swag courtesy Steam Whistle, automatic acceptance into the 2008 TSCF, and a slot in the “Best of the Fest” show, November 23rd 2007 at the Second City.
Frequently Asked Question about the Awards:
Are out of town troupes eligible for these awards?
Yes, absolutely. If you win the award, you will be asked to perform in the Best of Fest show a week later in Toronto. The proceeds from the Best of Fest show are split between the performing troupes and the Festival, to assist with any travel costs. We also work with sponsors to assist out of town troupes with their travel and accommodations. If you are unable to make the trip back to Toronto, you will still be credited as the winner of the award, and the “runner up” troupe will be asked to perform in the show.
