Each day leading up to the 2013 Festival, the TOsketchfest Blog will feature one of our 40+ awesome comedy troupes.
Today’s troupe of the day is The Dance Party of Newfoundland.
The Dance Party of Newfoundland is back after taking home TOsketchfest’s Best of the Fest Award back in 2007. Since then, they have played sold out shows in both Canada and the US; they have appeared on national television in a CBC comedy special with Kids in the Hall’s Kevin McDonald, and on CBC radio’s Madly Off In All Directions. They’ve accumulated several notable writing credits in TV and film, including Murdoch Mysteries, 22 Minutes, Three Chords from the Truth, Republic of Doyle, Lost Girl and Death Comes to Town as well as the critically acclaimed film Grown Up Movie Star. And of course you’ll recognize the famous faces of Jonny Harris (Constable George Crabtree on Murdoch Mysteries) and Susan Kent (cast member of This Hour Has 22 Minutes)!
But now da by’s (and girl) are back to their stage roots as part of TOsketchfest’s Featured Series. Troupe members Jonny Harris, Dave Sullivan, Steve Cochrane, Phil Churchill and Susan Kent are ready to bring their brand of sketch comedy, which has been described as “gutbustingly funny” to grace us here on the mainland. NOTE: TOsketchfest bears no responsibility of your gut actually busts during any of DPN’s performances. You’ve been warned.
Check out their troupe profile to find out when they are playing, and to grab your tickets.
