Catch CBC talent at TOsketchfest:
Arguably Toronto's most unique live comedy experience, Boys Club features a new running narrative held together by brand new sketches every two weeks. Audiences leave happy, amazed, scandalized even!
Boys Club! is definitely a comedic super group. We formed just over a year ago after realizing that there wasn’t enough comedy that we actually liked watching, so we took it upon ourselves to start a bi-weekly show where we host our favourite comedic acts, creating a show that people like us want to see… and it’s worked! We’ve been very successful since we started. Our show is Monday nights at 10pm – a cursed slot! Who wants to see comedy at 10pm on a Monday?! Well, as it turns out, a lot of people do. We’ve had many sold out shows and incredible support from important members of the Toronto comedy scene. Our show is a variety show and we see many styles of comedy, but each Boys Club! show presents a brand new comedic three-act play (sometimes musical!) that we write and perform every two weeks, complete with original sketches that we frequently perform on other shows throughout Toronto, even for Montreal Sketch Fest.
Each member has won awards in sketch, stand-up, improv, writing, and/or producing, so I guess you could say we are an (individually) award winning troupe!
Some member highlights include Patrick Ronan, who can be seen in almost every commercial that’s ever been made and the face of RBC Reward Points, and Ben Beauchemin, who plays Gerald, one of the main characters in CBC’s Kim’s Convenience (but he didn’t make it on the bus ad, don’t bring that up he’s touchy about it.)
Also we have a huge poster up at Comedy Bar. It’s really cool. You should check it out!
