Special Events at TOsketchfest20

The Toronto Sketch Comedy Festival is known for it’s excellent double bills that are the core of the Festival, but it also presents fantastic special events from full length revues, marquee shows at Streetcar Crowsnest, and one-night-only presentations!

Here is a sampling of special events March 4 – 15 that you do not want to miss at #TOsketchfest20:

TOsketchfest Film Festival
March 4 at The Theatre Centre

Back for a fourth year, The TOsketchfest Film Festival is a curated selection of some of the funniest comedy shorts from across Canada and beyond, shining the spotlight on the best in on-screen sketch comedy.

Walk the Blue Shag carpet with the filmmakers and chow down on your favourite movie snacks in this fun-filled premiere screening. Five finalists will be revealed in the running for the title of “Outstanding Comedy Short.”

Opening Night Spectacular
March 5 at The Theatre Centre

Join us for the Opening Night show and 15th Anniversary celebration of TOsketchfest! Toast 15 years with a Steam Whistle, then enter the theatre for the Opening Night Spectacular featuring Hackett & Langdon, Diane, Jon Blair and more!

Mark Little & Andy Bush
March 5 at Streetcar Crowsnest

Fresh from their CBC show Cavendish, which critics described as “not returning for a second season,” Mark Little and Andy Bush are back at TOsketchfest to slop and squeal like a couple of pigs. Watch as these two homely creeps sing, dance, play a total of three (3) characters and maybe do a game show or something, all while begging for another shot at TV.
PLUS don’t miss My Gorgeous Son Live at Comedy Bar on March 13!

Good News Toronto
March 6 at Comedy Bar

Good News Toronto is the show that covers all the days headlines with a penchant for the ridiculous and irreverent. They love taking down those in power, but also love being the dumbest people in the room. Think Last Week Tonight meets The Eric Andre Show. This is the news, if the news happened at a house party.

Flying Solo: An International Women’s Day Spectacular
March 8 at The Theatre Centre

A one night only event celebrating solo sketch comedy on International Women’s Day. Directed by Kirsten Rasmussen, Flying Solo: An International Women’s Day Spectacular will feature some of Toronto’s emerging solo acts including Rabiya Mansoor, Rena Taylor, Anna Smith, and Meg MacKay.

The Alternative Route
March 12 at The Theatre Centre

The Alternative Route is a TOsketchfest variety show featuring unique acts whose style and form are a little outside the box! You will see character work, you will see music, you will see wackiness from Bad Tattoo, Smooth Comedy, Liam Lum, Jordan Armstrong and Randall Walsh.

Vest of Friends Anniversary Show
March 12 at The Theatre Centre

Vest of Friends celebrates ten years at the Toronto SketchFest with the silliness between four genuine friends, cramming as many jokes into each premise as possible. Come see a show that SNL alumni Garrett Morris called “perfectly executed stupidity!” Don’t forget to wear your best vest!

The Best of the Fest Award Show – Sunday, March 14th – 7pm

The Best of the Fest Award Show
March 15 at The Theatre Centre

The line-up for The Best of the Fest Show will include some of the best comedy we saw throughout TOsketchfest20! Throughout the show, we’ll announce the winners of the Festival’s five awards: The Best of the Fest Award, The Game of Things Audience Choice Awards, The Steam Whistle Producers’ Pick Award, and The Outstanding Comedy Short Award.
