Hosted by Henry Sarwer-Foner, speakers will include Shaun Majumder, Sherry White, Mark McKinney, Susan Kent, Joel Thomas Hynes, Jonny Harris, Adriana Maggs, Rick Boland, Ed Macdonald (writer), Mary Sexton (producer), and Mary Walsh.
In outport Newfoundland, it is often left to one enterprising family to literally taxi the residents of the town from cradle to grave – offering wedding, funeral and ambulance services. A classic comedy that starred Mary Walsh, Sherry White, Mark McKinney, Rick Boland, Joel Thomas Hynes, Jonny Harris, Shaun Majumder and Susan Kent.

Henry Sarwer-Foner, Host
Henry Sarwer-Foner has a passion for stories rooted in relationships, told from the heart with fearless originality. He has an extensive track record directing actors and production teams to achieve a specific tone and vision. His niche is to get in at the conceptual level and shape shows from the ground up. He’s directed a dozen TV pilots (most picked up for series) and over 500 episodes of television for CBC, CTV, Bravo, MTV, TMN and HBO. He’s won multiple CSA, Gemini and DGC awards for shows including Hatching, Matching and Dispatching, 22 Minutes, Made in Canada, Traders, Less Than Kind, HMD, Corner Gas, and Rick Mercer Report. Henry is currently developing two TV projects and two feature films including Shadowbox, which was recently selected for the Whistler Film Festival Screenwriters Lab and Dick 2.0, which has won fourteen laurels for Best Screenplay at U.S. festivals in 2020/21.
Mary Walsh, Creator
Mary Walsh is a Newfoundland actor, writer, comedian, activist and mother. Among her many awards and doctorates, Mary is also the recipient of The Order of Canada and the Governor General’s Lifetime Achievement Award in the Performing Arts. No stranger to television audiences, Mary Walsh Walsh wrote, produced and starred in the Gemini award winning Hatching, Matching and Dispatching, and more recent television credits include CBC’s Republic of Doyle, Global’s Rookie Blue, and HBO Canada’s Sensitive Skin, for which she was nominated for a 2017 Canadian Screen Award. Mary may be best known for her work on This Hour Has 22 Minutes, CBC’s wildly popular take on current affairs.
