Gen Z Hire Me by Margarita Brighton
Sure Lee-Temple is a high-pitched, earnest and adorable Gen Z who has just graduated high school (online of course) and is #OpenToWork. Sure is ready to dazzle you with all of her internet research skills that she has acquired over the decade and a half of her life.
“Sure Lee-Temple” is a character that Margarita created. Sure is so far removed from any struggle.
Margarita (she/her/they) is a trained Improviser and Comedian of The Second City (Toronto), UCB LA and The Assembly. She is a first-generation, Filipina – Irish Canadian and documentary filmmaker of the Toronto Indie music scene. Pre-pandemic she would create/capture humorous (as well as artistic and super serious) videos for the likes of Nap Eyes, Ian Kehoe, Deliluh, The Weather Station and more.
Margarita is very lucky to be doing work that she loves and as a first-generation Canadian, she recognizes the struggle that her parents had to grind, in order to make it in Canada and she feels very fortunate.
Margarita is a graduate of the RTA: School of Media and holds a B.A. in Media Production (formerly known as Radio and Television Arts). Therefore, over the four years of her studies (staying up till 4am in the lab editing) she has learned to become a “one-woman production house.”
She wrote, directed, shot, edited and produced this piece. She would like to credit a “shotgun microphone” taped to a mic-stand for providing her excellent audio to work with. Margarita would also like to credit her partner for supporting her comedic endeavours, specifically by allowing her to revert into her “second childhood” in order to film this thing.
