When you come to see The Low Rise Queens you can expect a high energy, character driven sketch show, sprinkled with a bit music and a lot of friendship. Anna, Erica and Rachel have a habit of going from loud, zany, and extreme to grounded, relatable and calm in the course of about 68 seconds. Best friends in real life, these gals have the gull to make an audience beg for more while simultaneously try to figure out how they can become the fourth Queen™.
Now magazine calls Low Rise Queens a “Fresh all-female troupe who have an enviable energy” and “amusing observers of millennial lives.” Erica Gellert (Sunday Night Live, Tom&Erica), Rachel McLatchie (She Dot. JFL Stand-up Showcase), and Anna Smith (JFL Solo Character showcase, TLC) have each participated in Toronto and Montreal Sketchfest for the past 5 years. The Low Rise Queens are graduates of the Humber College Comedy Writing and performance program. While studying, members received the Brian Linehan Comedy Award for Outstanding Artistic Promise, and the Johanna Downey Award for Most Promising Female Comedian. While performing at the Fundy Fringe Festival in 2017 Erica and Rachel came home with the Best Comedy Ensemble Award. Individually members bring their improv, sketch and stand-up chops to many areas of the Toronto Comedy Scene.
