A production still from Uncharted Territories: Two people in a restaurant kitchen, the TV host on the left and a chef being interviewed on the right. They’re both looking at a plate of food that is out of frame. Under the TV host is the logo for the Uncharted Territories TV series.
Uncharted Territories is a parody of food and travel programs. It’s hosted by Alejandrino Belmonte, a loving sendup of Anthony Bourdain—imagining what it would have been like if Bourdain was scared of everything. Graeme Achurch, Ronald Dario and Jenny Rube filmed the “Steak” episode as a hybrid of written sketch and improvised ad-libs to give the short a realistic feeling while still allowing room for playful discovery.
Ronald Dario, Jenny Rube and Graeme Achurch are improvisers and sketch comedians. They’ve performed together on various local shows and have all been a part of Vancouver’s Blind Tiger Comedy. All three have been part of festivals like JFL Northwest, the Vancouver Improv Festival and the Del Close Marathon.
