Creative Bio:
With over 15 years of experience in the entertainment industry, Darrell Faria is a triple threat: director, writer, and comedian. He has a Canadian Screen Award nomination for Best Performance in Digital Media (2016) and a Canadian Comedy Award nomination (2015) in the same category. His directorial work has won T.O. Webfest awards (2020) and TOSketchfest Awards (2020).

Select director credits include: “Bit Playas” on CBC Gem and he is currently guest directing on CBC’s “Tallboyz”. As a writer, Darrell has written for commercial clients such as Hot Wheels (Mattel) and he has written/directed live and digital sketches for clients such as The Canadian Screen Awards. He has completed The Second City Writer‘s Conservatory.

As an actor, Darrell was the head instructor at the Mississauga Youth Theatre for 5 years. Some of his acting credits include his Entertainment Weekly cited performance in Hallmark’s “The Santa Suit” and in Bell Media’s “Fare Trade”.

But perhaps his most on-the-map presence is as his comedy/rap persona: Chai-T. In the vein of Ali G or Borat, Chai-T creates the illusion of being a real rapper both live and in his social media. He had viral success on his “Drake’s Best Friend” campaign (Buzzfeed, BlogTO, Flo 93.5, etc.) and on his “‘This Is Us’ Rap Reviews” which engaged many cast members & writers of the hit NBC show. Chai-T gave a high-energy opening performance at “Rapp Battlez 100”, which was noted as one of the “Top 5 live comedy shows of 2018”

Winner of the Outstanding Comedy Short at the 2020 TOsketchfest Film Festival
